Distinctives of NILD

Based upon initial and annual assessments, an individualized program for NILD Educational Therapy is designed for each student to stimulate cognitive functioning.

1. Explicit and Intentional Instruction

Research shows that students need precise instruction with intentional intervention, focused on their individual needs.

2. Inductive Reasoning and Socratic Questioning

Research shows that through questioning, students will be challenged to move beyond their developmental level and stimulate critical thinking.

3. Guided Practice and Systematic Feedback

Research shows that through one-on-one instruction, students become active participants and higher level learning occurs.

4. Self-regulation and Transfer

Research shows that as students work with the therapist, impulsivity is curbed and precision and clarity in verbal expression is attained. These distinctives address learning challenges and raise expectations for cognitive and affective change building confidence for independent functioning.
